Fraction Division

Here is my Fraction Division problem which is 3/4÷1/8. I made two models, a pie chart and a rectangle chart. First, you have to invert 1/8 to 8/1 and as Mr Barber said, " Dividing fractions don't you cry, FLIP THE SECOND and MULTIPLY." So next you multiply across so you do 3/4x8/1 which will equal 24/4. But since it is an improper fraction, you have to convert 24/4 to a normal fraction, whole number, or a mixed number. In this case,we are changing it to a whole number. So 4 goes into 24, 6 times so our answer is 6. My model shows a pie graph split into fourths. Then I split it into eighths and rubbed off 1/4 of the pie because we are dealing with 3/4. Then I counted the number of parts I had left which was 6. I did the exact same thing for the rectangle chart. This is helpful when  you need to divide a part of something into smaller portions. An example is when you have 3/4 tray of brownies. How many people can be fed if you need to give 1/8 of what is left on the tray? 6 people can have a portion of the brownies.
