My Activist Picture Book is about Alexandra Scott a child cancer activist and her life through a third person view. It starts off with her being born and her early years. Then, talks about her cancer diagnosis, neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. Then, moves on to her young life when she was two years old and fighting cancer. Then it moves on to the day she quoted that she wanted to have a lemonade stand and when she started her first lemonade stand she raised over $2,000. Then, it talks about how the lemonade stand continued to raise more and more money each year. Then, it talks about that when she passed away at age 8, the lemonade stand continued to raise money after she reached her goal of $1,000,000.
I chose Alex Scott because she inspired me. She was not even one when she was diagnosed with cancer and fought for eight whole years before passing away. I wanted to write about a child activist and an activist who had battled cancer. When I came across Alex Scott, I knew she was the perfect fit for my book.
I like that Alex never gave up on the lemonade stand or her life. Even when it hurt so much that she couldn't take it, she continued to fight for her life. I like children who do that because that inspires me and reminds me that no matter what I should continue fighting even if it's not fighting cancer.
I think I should have added more detail on her life because it was so short. I wish I would've added more inspiring quotes too.
I think the best part of picture book was my illustrations. I think this because even though they weren't they best, I still put a lot of effort into them to make them look good.
I think something that could use work is my transitions because I would say one thing to end one page and start a new thing on a new page when I should be bridging those two pages together.
